Blowing Rocks Preserve is a unique and beautiful barrier island sanctuary located on Jupiter Island, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon. Blowing Rocks Preserve is 73 acres made up of sensitive ecotones: beach dune, coastal strand, mangrove wetlands, tropical hammock and oak hammock. Its rocky Anastasia limestone shoreline is the largest on the Atlantic coast. During extreme tides and the right conditions the waves crash into and through eroded erosion holes in the Anastasia Limestone and splash up to 50 feet into the air, for which the preserve is named.

If your here mid to late summer you may encounter Blowing Rocks Preserves most popular visitors. Sea Turtles: Loggerhead, Leatherback and Green Turtles dig hundreds of nests every year along this stretch of beach. I myself have witnessed a Sea Turtle covering her nest and sliding back to the Atlantic Ocean, what an amazing experience! I have also encountered Sea Turtle egg shells littered up and down the coast but never witnessed the babies scurrying down to the surf.
